Approval
After the mandatory meetings in April and May, the ariZoni adjudicator
selection committee will select adjudicators for the 2010-2011 season.
If you have been selected, you will receive an email packet that includes
adjudication guidelines, as well as a list of all the shows you are scheduled
to judge during the season. (Note: If you are unable to receive email,
please be sure to notify us in your application so that we may have time
to prepare and mail your information.) All notices and packets should
be sent out by mid July 2010. You will be notified by phone if you have
shows starting earlier than the delivery of the packets.
Assignment
Adjudicators are assigned to see between five and twelve shows in a season,
between July 1 2010 and June 30 2011, at various theatres around the Valley.
All shows are randomly assigned, without regard to the adjudicator's geographic
location. Participating theatres are located in all areas of Maricopa
County, and an adjudicator could be scheduled to see a show in any location
with their participating theatre category.
Adjudicators will be assigned to the same show category for the entire
season; for example, all Non-Contracted musicals, or all Non-Contracted
plays or all Youth theatre.
Two complimentary tickets are provided for each show in exchange for
judging. Upon arriving at the theatre, the adjudicator will be handed
a pre-printed ballot with all the categories and names to be judged. After
viewing the show, you will use the guidelines from your packet to complete
the ballot.
A word about Contracted Adjudication
If you are interested in adjudicating Contracted Theater productions,
please feel free to let us know that in a letter statement of interest.
Bring that information to the adjudicator meeting. If you are invited
to adjudicate Contracted Theatre, you will required to attend an additional
meeting for that training, as Contracted Theatre has a few different guidelines
than Non-Contracted and Youth Theater. Before you request Contracted Adjudication,
you should be aware that those selected will be required to see ALL shows
in their category (either all Contracted Musicals or all Contracted Plays)
in a season. This is a significant time consideration, and, once started,
is an irreversible decision. Please consider VERY CAREFULLY whether you
can commit to the time commitment before requesting Contracted Adjudication.
We will provide more information on Contracted Adjudication in the near
future.
